Alteo is looking for an SEO/GEO Specialist for a permanent position based in Montreal (West Island).
As part of a fast-growing e-commerce startup offering excellent career advancement opportunities, you will make a significant impact as the SEO/GEO Strategy Lead. You will identify technical issues, prioritize optimizations, and implement changes aimed at improving search engine visibility, organic traffic, and AI tools.
Responsibilities:
> Technical SEO:
- Improve crawlability, indexing, and the site’s overall architecture
- Analyze and optimize Shopify URL structures and internal linking schemes
- Manage canonical tags, redirects, sitemaps, and robots.txt directives
- Identify and resolve technical SEO issues related to Shopify themes, apps, and configurations
- Identify rendering or scripting issues that may affect crawlability or performance
- Conduct technical site audits using tools such as Screaming Frog
- Contribute to improving Core Web Vitals and overall site performance
- Identify and prioritize technical SEO initiatives based on their potential impact on organic traffic and revenue
- Optimize content for indexing by AI tools (ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, etc.) (GEO)
> Shopify implementation and on-page optimization
- Implement SEO improvements directly within Shopify themes and templates (Liquid, HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript)
- Optimize collection pages, product pages (PDPs), and blog content to improve organic visibility
- Manage metadata, titles, internal link structures, and keyword mapping for the English and French markets
- Implement and maintain structured data, including Product, Collection, Breadcrumb, and Article/Blog schemasEnsure that the site structure and navigation support strong search performance
> Monitoring search performance and trends
- Monitor SEO performance using GA4, Google Search Console, and Ahrefs
- Track rankings and organic traffic, and identify growth opportunities
- Monitor changes in search behavior, including AI-powered search and evolving discovery platforms
- Ensure that site content and product data remain optimized for modern search environments
- Work with internal teams to ensure adherence to SEO best practices for new content, products, and site updates
Profile:
- DEC/BAC degree in computer science, e-commerce, or equivalent
- 4 to 6 years or more of experience in technical SEO within e-commerce environments
- Solid understanding of crawling/indexing, site architecture, internal linking, and structured data
- Experience optimizing product and category pages for organic search performance
- Experience with Shopify (Shopify Plus preferred)
- Ability to implement SEO improvements directly within Shopify themes and templates (Liquid, HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript)
- Experience implementing structured data for e-commerce, including Product, Collection, Breadcrumb, and Article/Blog schemas
- Proficiency in GA4, Google Search Console, and Ahrefs
- Experience using technical SEO crawling tools such as Screaming Frog
- Experience in GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) (a significant asset)
