Job Description Alteo is looking for an IT Director for a permanent position based in Montreal.

Your primary role will be to manage the operation and delivery of IT services. You will report to the Senior Director, Technologies, and manage three department heads in charge of IT infrastructure and operations, software development, and business intelligence.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and mobilize multidisciplinary technical teams by providing a common understanding of vision, objectives, plans, roles and responsibilities, and expected individual and collective behaviors.
  • Ensure alignment and consistency at all levels in the planning and organization of work, and in the execution and delivery of services according to expected standards and objectives.
  • To facilitate the deployment of each person's full potential by promoting individual and collective accountability and performance, and to maximize team strength through each person's contribution.
  • Proactively combine day-to-day operational management imperatives with the delivery of business initiatives, special projects and high-visibility corporate projects.
  • Excellent risk management by promptly identifying and communicating all potential issues, defusing them upstream or proactively taking charge to neutralize and resolve proven problems.
  • Work effectively with all stakeholders (colleagues, partners, customers, management, etc.), adopting a customer service-oriented posture at all times, and communicating clearly, in layman's terms and in a pedagogical manner, to ensure that expectations are properly managed in order to achieve the organization's objectives.
  • Carry out excellent ongoing field monitoring of file progress, and report effectively, smoothly and promptly on progress and issues.
Profile:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • 10-15+ years experience in IT
  • 3+ years' experience in team management, including executives
  • IT generalist, with a good understanding of IT infrastructure and operations, software development and business intelligence
  • Good knowledge of cloud infrastructure operations
  • Good knowledge of IT operations processes (incident management, deployment. e.g. ITIL)
  • Good knowledge of DevOps/DevSecOps
  • Good knowledge of critical high-availability solution management
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft environment (Azure, 365), VMWare, SAN storage, telephony, networks, BI, Power BI, ERP etc.
  • Management experience in a unionized organization (asset)
  • Ability to plan and organize, clearly communicating strategic objectives and translating them into an operational roadmap, and to distribute the workload fairly and equitably.
  • Demonstrate adaptive leadership by proposing solutions, listening and asking questions in order to understand and remain open. Be an exemplary role model, respecting commitments and adapting to people, context and organization.
  • Know how to communicate by listening attentively and expressing oneself frankly, clearly and precisely to ensure mutual understanding that is constantly aligned with the organization's strategy. Quickly share relevant information with all stakeholders.
  • Provide direction by delegating to the right people to bring out the full potential of each individual, and encourage teamwork within the department and with other departments to bring out the full potential of the organization.
  • Empower team members to take initiatives based on their skills, strengths and interests, and ensure rigorous yet respectful management. Empower department heads to manage their respective teams in order to achieve the desired management performance.
  • Have managerial courage and take responsibility for decisions and actions, even in complex situations, and provide feedback on both good and bad performance in a genuine manner. Convincingly assumes his role as manager to ensure that his department is positioned as an effective and productive key partner for the organization's other departments.
  • Demonstrate flexible, benevolent leadership, and know how to empower team members.
  • Be open to change and encourage it by integrating it into day-to-day work.
